ISIS-K expanding its network through digital technologies (Social Media)
International News: The latest report of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has increased India's concern. The report has revealed that the Islamic State Khorasan group (ISIS-K) is gaining a strong foothold in India's neighboring country Afghanistan. And not only Afghanistan, but it is now trying to spread its roots to Central Asia and Europe. The most dangerous aspect is that this terrorist organization is now strengthening its network through digital technologies and cryptocurrency. This new web of terror being created right next to India's border is a very serious warning.
According to UN counterterrorism officials, ISIS-K is getting a favorable environment to grow since the Taliban took over Afghanistan. Many training camps are running there, which are also said to be directly linked to Al-Qaeda. This is the reason why the security threat to India, including Central Asia, is increasing.
UN Under-Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov warned that ISIS is making full use of new technologies. It is collecting funds through cryptocurrency and encrypted networks and is intensifying its propaganda. The direct effect of this is that it has now become extremely difficult to break its economic network.
UN official Natalia German said that ISIS-K is now actively trying to recruit new youth. The target of their propaganda running on social media and online platforms is especially the youth of Europe and Central Asia. The report also revealed that Africa has become the center of ISIS's biggest activities today. The highest wave of terror is being seen there, which can become a big headache for global security.
The member countries of the Security Council acknowledged that military action alone is not enough to defeat ISIS-K. For this, a human rights-based and comprehensive strategy needs to be adopted. Also, all countries will have to unite and face this challenge.
